I upgraded my system from an Intel 233Mhz mmx to an AMD Athlon TB 1.4Ghz recently and have the strangest problem with the CDROM drive.
After a period of time, the cdrom drive will stop spinning the cdrom and go into an idle state. At this point in time, when an interrupt for the cdrom is generated, I will get a blue screen saying something about a lost device. The cdrom drive will start flashing its light and start spinning the cdrom up to speed. At this point, I push enter and everything is okay.
Why is the device being lost after entering its idle state?
