VAG 10-29-2000, 06:57 AM I would like to cool my cpu with sth cheap.I already have 8 fans in my tower.Any opinions ??? CMonster 10-29-2000, 02:09 PM Put a piece of asbestos between the CPU and heat sink - I learned this from "MADONION.COM" - ..jk Really, a peltier can be quite a hassle. They consume a fair amount of power, require a massive heat sink or water cooler to work efficiently and they can (read "will") cause condensation of moisture around the CPU. This in turn will at very least cause corrosion and at worst short-n-fry something. Special precautions should be taken about insulating from the air to avoid condensation. Note if the peltier fails electrically it is the same as inserting the asbestos I mentioned above. Mlope 10-30-2000, 12:41 AM Sorry to but in, as I have nothing to help you with your question. I am curious though, what IS a peltier cooler? As a result condensation can be a problem. Hope this helps, I'am sure someone can provide a more detailed answer. wyvrn 10-31-2000, 12:14 AM Aren't their little foam thingies you can use that surrounds the chip and reduces condenstation? Peltier's also require a fan/heatsink to disipate the heat on the outer side, so to me it seems like a waste of money and time unless your chip is boiling. SysOpt.com
