LCD Projectors for Gaming?

I am looking into getting an LCD projector so that I can play Unreal with lifesize characters (pretty scary huh?) Do these projectors have a good enough refresh rate to do this? At my school a while back, they had a big presentation using DVD and LCD projectors. The clarity was totally unbeliveable, it was alsome! This was played in the auditorimin on a big screen, I was very impressed! Well anyway, do regular LCD projectors do this, or did they use a 30,000 dollar one?

are you talking about those self esteem/drug abuse films? yeah we had one of them when i was a senior, you're right the clarity was amazing. however, i'm sure those projectors were thousands of dollars if not tens of thousands as you suggested already.

You can get a projector that is intended for computer presentations... they're usually good enough for gaming (we've played DVDs off of them)... and on a nice big white wall... beautiful http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

However.. there are limitations.... mainly:

1. They usually run $3000 or more TO START.

2. You'll need a nice white wall (or projection screen), and a reasonably dark room...

My parents have some projectors for presentations, they run about $5000 each. But they provide amazing clarity.

I agree with the rest of you: they cost 3-5,000 dollars. Do you have that kind of money lying around?
