I have an Intel PII400 on a VB-601-V MB. I'm trying to set this system up with a Linksys LNE100TX ethernet adapter and also have an Intel 2100 DSL modem installed. The boards are happy in Device Manager under Win98 (no resource conflicts etc.) however the ethernet card does not want to see other computers. These 2 boards will work in the system individually but seem not to want to co-exist. I found a text file on the Linksys disk which reads, "The EtherFast LAN adapter should be used in a 32-bit PCI slot that supports PCI Local Bus Mastering. It cannot be plugged into a PCI Bus Slave slot. Consult your motherboard's documentation for more information on master & slave slots." Could this be my problem and if so is there something I can do about it? I can't seem to find any info about bus master/slaves.
