uninstall directx8 from win98?

i have a installation of directx8 on my computer. now this version is 'expired' and i must reinstall it. how can this be done? (better: how van i install directx7 and remove all of the directx8 files?)

No, just deleting the files might really give you problems. use the uninstall directx8 utility refered to here: http://www.htgk.com.sg/gibclan/news/news.shtml

I've seen this utility but I think it only works for win98/SE but not for ME. Am I right?
