xterminator dual control

Does anyone use the Xterminator dual control from Gravis? Is it a gamepad or a joystick?

I have an original Xterminator. It's a gamepad; I don't know about the Dual Control, though...

I have checked their website, but didn't found the info I need. Looking at the picture, it seemed that the joystick and D-pad is at the same place. so I hope that I can use the stick to maneuver the D-pad.
