I recently recieved a copy of Red Faction as a gift from a friend. I can't seem to get it to work on my system. Every time I try to run it I get a DirectX error that says:
"Error:Unable to initalize DirectX 8.0--Device creation failed!
File: C:\projects\RF_PC\vsdk\gr\directx\gr_direct3d.cpp - Line:1885
A critical error has occured and the program cannot continue.
Press OK to exit the program"
I tried screwing with my settings, setting the D3D buffer to 16 MB-the game seemed to start, and then I got a Win2k "blue screen of death". My friend can run it no problem on his Win2k system. He's running a 1.4 T-bird on a Asus A7V266-E, I'm on a 800 MHz T-bird @950 OC'ed on a Asus A7V (standard). Anyone else have a similar problem and figured out how to resolve it?
