It seems like the race for voice is heating up as Yahoo, AOL, and Lycos are developing their own "voice portals" that enable users to access information via voice navigation through conventional telephones or WAP phones.

The race was sparked by the wild success of internet startups who implimented this technology like Quack.com and AudioPoint (others include HeyAnita, Nuance)

While voice portals remain an excellent and new commodity, they are beginning to resemble the "gigapet" of voice recognition industry. Like "Who Wants to be a Millionaire," and "Greed," voice portals may become an OVERUSED, OVERDONE, service. but right now companies seem to be keeping the technology under wraps, maintaining the integrity of voice recognition.
