I plan on installing a new 40G hard drive to go along with a 10G. My question is can I trasfer all my programs over to the new 40G drive? The 10G will be C drive and the 40G will be D and E. Will a straight copy and paste do it or do I need to do something else?

Hi Bill,
I don't think you'll be able to just copy the programs across, without the OS. You can copy the whole OS inc. programs,
onto the newy. You canm make the 40Gb drive the primary boot drive (c:, etc.) You can do this by the folowing directions:
Before you copy, partition & format your new drive to the sizes and filesystem you want.
Then, i'd use Symantec Ghost to make an image of your 10G hd. Ghost this image directly across to the new drive.
This will make the new drive bootable, so you need to
make it the primary drive (not slave) and it should boot up.
I'm in a hurry, so there instructions could be lacking details reqd.

Of cource, you can. It's just like any copy process. Just simply connect your new HDD and enjoy. Remember to partition ana format it.
I think that the best choice is to have a 40GB HDD as your C: and D: partitions, and a 10GB - as E:. Why? 'Cause your HDD you bought is faster (believe me) than your 10GB HDD. If your system would lay on your C: partition, your work should be faster and have more performance.
