I learned recently that there is a new DVD-ROM drive available that has an ATA/ATAPI mode 5, UDMA 100 output on it.

Does anyone know which brand of drive it is? I stumbled across one (I think) on a website but never wrote the make and model down.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Jeff

I don't know the brand or model but my question is: why would you need it? A 16x DVD transfers about 23mb/s at most so even UDMA33 would be enough. With UDMA66 you're absolutely safe for even the newest drives. Good luck,

Arthur

Asus DVD E616 is the one. I needed to get it so I could pair it up with my hard drive without slowing the HD down.

An UDMA33 device will not slow a UDMA100 HD down on new controllers (such as UDMA100 controllers), believe me. Even not when they're on the same cable, because their timing is independent.
