Here's hoping someone can help my poor friend who is now pc-less...

He had a abit kt7 board and a 1.2ghz chip...(any specific details that'll help to sort the problem please ask and i'll supply them) he tried to test a chip that he wanted to sell, namely a 1ghz and didnt change any settings in the bios before changing chips...he can now no longer get the machine running...no beeps and blank screen...he's tried both chips in the board again (being careful with both and using thermal paste etc) but to no avail..

Is his mobo totally screwed??? and can he use the chips again??? he dare'nt put it into mine or any other for fear they will die too??
Does the bios just need to be reset somehow or a new bios chip inserted???

Please Please can anyone help this poor chap...

Many thx on his behalf...Dave

For me it always helps to get the mobo and everything else out of the case and the dimms out of the mobo and then rebuild everything. I had these situations often and I think it's very unlikely that anything is broken. Maybe there's a short between the case and a screw and the mobo or something stupid like that. I hope you can solve the problem, I know how frustrating it can be...
