Has anybody had any problem with their cd rom disappearing in Win98SE when the load the intel ultra ata drivers. My cd rom\burner is a yamaha crw2100e which suppors mode 2. On a fresh install of windows the cd rom works, then whenever i load up intel's uata drivers my cd rom disappears. In device manager there is a yellow exclamation, saying device is not working properly. The bios shows the cd rom is there..and it worked before. Things i have tried: checked safe mode for ghosted devices, downloaded new drivers, removing hardware from system (non-vital devices), switching cables, running cd rom on ide 1 with hard drive(cd rom still doesnt work). Intel wont help me, when its clearly their problem. Maybe somebody out there can help.

Thanks,

Yep, same here, installing their "Accelerator" drivers made both CD-ROM and CD-RW to disappear (Asus TUSL-C). Heard same responses from other dudes over the Net.
Very bad, Intel, very bad :(
