I have the current hook up config as follows:

(1) Maxtor 60GB ATA 133 7200 rpm Hard Drive --> Primary Master IDE Channel
(2) Aopen 24X CD Burner ---> Secondary Master IDE Channel
(3) Quantum Fireball 10.2Gb Hard Drive ---> Primary Slave IDE Channel
(4) Hitachi DVD ROM ---> Secondary Slave IDE Channel

Since I will be going to receive my Promise ATA133 UTX 133 Controller Card in 2 or days. That card comes with 2 IDE channels. Each channel cn support up to 2 devices.

My Question based on my situation, can you guys recommend what would be the best IDE configuration for my computer with the new controller card.

Please kindly advise.

3. Burner - Primary Master IDE
4. DVD - Secondary Master IDE

Best Regards ...

Who makes your motherboard? Does your mobo manufacturer say your BIOS will support the controller addition? If your BIOS does not support additional IDE channels then it will not work.

Asus mobo's are high tech. You should not have any problems. Just remember that the controller card has it's own bios that you can't custom configure. Place your peformance IDE's on the main boards IDE headers. I would not, for example, place one of my hard drives on the controller cards header. Unless of course the reason I was using a controller was to upgrade from ATA 33, then the whole above scenario is void. wallie_x
