I downloaded a free version of Norton Antivirus 2001(beta) from www.download.com. (http://www.download.com.) It identified my problem but didn`t have a cure for it.It isolated the trojan so it couldn`t do any more harm. Try it and then get back with what you actually have. I went to www.moosoft.com (http://www.moosoft.com) and used The Cleaner to eliminate my trojan. This is what my virus was sent in. Disney studios, owners of go.com, were unable to reproduce my results. This was SMOKED Hard Drives. The drive would spool up,, then seek to the center and then slam back to the rest emmiting a loud CLICK. per Microsoft "There are No Known viruses that can damage Hardware" No Mister Bill, but the software confused my poor hd's to the point of self destruction. One computer shop locally has had several experiences with this type of problem.. DrVette ps , I have the latest version of Norton also. Beemers 10-25-2000, 09:39 PM For now you can use the Free Online Scan at Mcafee: http://www.mcafee.com/centers/clinic/start.asp?oemid=&area=scannow Cheers! zzzzzzz8 10-25-2000, 09:44 PM You can also try : www.housecall.antivirus.com (http://www.housecall.antivirus.com) They seem to be pretty good and they too are free. socalgal 10-25-2000, 09:51 PM www.avp.com (http://www.avp.com) picked up a CIH variant here once that Norton's missed. Great AV-ware. Fully functional trial. Check for W2K compatibility, but I can highly recommend it for Win9x. Good luck, BTT. Ygor 10-26-2000, 12:02 AM http://www.free-av.com Try that one, was posted here recently & is free. SysOpt.com
