2460 wont post
I need help..
I just got my case in and put everything together last night and couldn't get my machine to Post. It powers up but never turns on the screen and after about 10 secs it just sits there. I removed everything except the cpu's, fans, ram, and agp video card. And it still won't post. I get no beep messages or anything.

Check to make sure that the motherboard is not shorting out on the case.

Yep actually I took it all out of the case and even tried booting with 1 processor and just 1 stick of ram. Still nothing.

Do you have your PC speaker plugged in to the motherboard. That should give you the POST beeps, are you getting to that point? From their manual it looks like the only one that matters is 1 long 2 short which is a video problem, otherwise the message is shown on the video. Also check the CMOS Reset (probably jumper 21 by the 2 short PCI slots) is not on clear (probably 2-3 is clear, 1-2 is normal). Also maybe unhook the reset switch (maybe its shorting and in perpetual reset) and make sure the power switch is on the right jumpers.
Finally, this is in Tyan's FAQ, I dunno if it helps, its not very descriptive...
Why does my system get no video or take a long time to get video after I enable ECC?
In order to ensure ECC integrity, the BIOS must first write zeros to all system memory. This may take up to 3 min. depending on the amount of memory.

Most dual processor motherboards will not boot properly if only one processor is installed without the "blank" processor slot adapter installed.
A blank screen on startup usually indicates a processor or video failure. Take them both out and make SURE that that are properly installed all the way into the sockets and mounted perfectly flat.

Did a blank come with your motherboard ?

I am in the process of putting together an MP system. I'm doing alot of research and found that the power supply must meet certain specs for the Tyan Mobo's. I'm not saying that this is your problem(It's probably not) but Check this out if you can.
AMD Power Supplies (http://www2.amd.com/us-en/Processors/ProductInformation/0,,30_118_756_809%5e965%5e978,00.html)
Out of curiosity, What made you choose the 2460 over the 2462 if you were using SCSI anyway ?
Thanx
Also The 760 MPX is due out this week. I understand you can put More RAM(Registered), You are not limited to certain power supplies and it has less slots, Anyone know the major differences of the 2? i.e. Bus speed, limitations etc..

Special Note
1.The Tyan Tiger MP (S2460) requires REGISTERED DDR MEMORY in order to POST.
4. Tyan recommend a maximum of 6 banks (loads) be used at one time.
