i have an enlight 3237 (sumthing like that) case and it's brand new and all.

just yesterday i had to remove some of the extra plating blocking the bays to put in my cdrom and now ther are some small metal spikes sticking out. how should i remove these? hammer it in?

Yeah, I say get a hammer, and bang em, so they bend back and don't stick out, thats what I would do.

While the hammer will work quite effectively, one misplaced hit could damage something. I would get a pair of pliers (nice, big pair with lots of leverage) and bend them down. Vise-Grips also work well.

I have a thin file that I run all along the edges of any computer that I work on. I've cut myself pretty bad before, so I just don't take chances around the components. Besides, I'm probably going to be working on the computer again later, so I might as well.

Filing down any sharp edges is a good idea, but would be best done empty. You don't want any of those metal filings getting in the wrong places.

Don't forget to use compressed air and/or a vacuum to get that out. Better yet, use the vacuum while you're filing on it.

i used pliers to take out the metal plate, that's what cause those irregular spikes. anyhow, i think i will use a file, these things are fairly small.
