Best game now?!

I want to buy a real-time strategy game that will keep me playing for some time. I am thinking of The Emperor:battle for dune or MechCommander 2, cant decide yet.
What would u people recommend from new releases?

Yeah BigBirdZ28 Civ 3 should be amazing, i remember playing the first one on my old 486 comp, u realy get addicted to this game.

Anyway i just bought Mech commander 2, and wow graphics are beutiful :cool: and game play is solid battletech style, i love it

if u guys read these books or played older battletech games this is a game for u :D

in my opinion im still sticking to AOK, SC:BW, and War2 :o

i still have my fun on those games sometimes but after a while some people get better while you play the same newbies over and over again worsening your skills :(

yeah return to castle wolfenstien is very fun cant think of a better game out right now. starcraft is still the coolest though Dune got better reviews than mechcommander2 thats what i would go with you also might want to check out empire earth.

I'd toss out RA2, EoD & some other 3D rts games just because theyre concentrating on 3ding the game instead of game play.

I remember when CDs were getting popular, the gaming industry turned into green snott(boggers) & went down hill with al the multimedia, now it's all graphics this graphics that all over again !!!

****, Civ3 looks nice, but it doesn't try to push the graphics envelope.

All that 3d stuff should be limited to fps games instead of strategy.

I love Dune, Red Alert, Starcraft & WarCraftI/II & i'll be damned if I take a flashy 3d game over a game with brutal game play!!!!!!!!

Star Craft is way the best - so far - i had played as a strategy game. I never got bored from it especially playing on battle net. You can try the expansion one, Brood War.

Game isn't out yet. As far as WC3...the site is as annoying as hell. They have been talking about the game and showing Movies, Pictures, and updates for 4 years now. ****...release it already. It better be a "GAME OF THE YEAR" type game to take this long. WHat I hate when they take years to develop a game is that by the time the game is release the engine used for the game is outdates and the graphic are not up to par.

I agree it is taking Blizzard too long to release WC3, i remember reading something (with pics of the gameplay) about this game like 5 years ago, and its still under development.
I am playing MC 2 now, and its pretty good , probably couse i am into this battletech universe :) all in all graphics r just great

There is a sequel on its way for Outcast AND in my opinion the Best game for RTS has to be Cossacks / Age of Empires II.

However sod all that and get(into) CounterStrike - watch your life fly by...........

I played the demo of Stronghold, and thought, while it was a good idea, was pretty ****.
I loved that WWIII Black gold though, that game kicks!!
Nothing can beat Starcraft though, except possibly Dune 2! :D

Well, I think wolfenstien is a great rts! (j/k!!)

Really though, Empire Earth wasn't too bad, it's got a good concept but I haven't played that much through the game. It reminds me of Age of Empires II except it combines the Civilization III concept that technology advances and you can have jets, and more advanced things later... not sure, haven't played that far yet :).

Well, I just purchased Empire Earth last night. Played it for a couple of hours and it seems sweet. The only thing I have noticed is... NO GAME SPEED ADJUSTMENT. Dude, I was pretty bored watching my villagers build **** for 30 minutes... uhhh! Maybe I missed something but that is a huge pain in the ***. Anyway, looks to be a kewl game overall. Later.

Some of the best RTS games are Age of Kings Gold and Homeworld. They have been out for a while but they are both great games and have good replayabilaty. If you want a turn baseed game, go for Civ3, very addictive.

Best RPG game to come is probably warcraft3 and world of warcraft. However if you want something to keep you busy for the time being you should get empire earth. The game is much more complex than the original age of empire series, it now ranges from 500,000 BC (caveman) to some where in the late 2000's. As far as shoot em up games I don't really know which ones are good but, max payne is very good, you can play as third person or first. And if you're tired of just shooting you can always play citizen kabuto, not the newest game but it fun and graphic wise it's not bad at all.

All games are strategy. You need to know who to kill first. The n00b or the vet. The guy with the a shotgun or the rocketlaucher. I think when you asked for a strategy game there are too many out there

Fishsauce when I asked for a strategy game I meant RTS Real-time strategy, e.g. Command and Conquer), although u r right, there is always some kind of strategic element in all game genres.

give TA a try, it's an oldie, but definitely worth a look, if you've never played it before. graphically, it's a lot like starcraft, but the control system is much more intuitive, and it's got a few nice advantages (like group sizes limited only by your system memory, and your patience for unit creation ; ).
all around, it's just a more varied game than starcraft (don't get me wrong, i've actually played more starcraft, mp isn't impressive with TA).

No one has mention it yet but I think Battle Realms kicks @ss!!! in a big way.

Beautiful to look at and slightly differerent from most RTSs, plus 4 clans means 4 x the fun!! a great game plus they have a demo so you can try before you buy:)

Empire Earth is the best strategy game ever made... this game will keep you busy for hours, and not only is the gameplay great, but the graphics are quite nice for a strategy game.

Try StarWars Galactic Battleground. Something like AOE but Star Wars classes.
