Does anyone have anything bad to say about a plextor burner??

I checked user reviews, and it looked great...just need a final "go for it!" http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

I am planning to purchase a PLEXWRITER 8X4X32X ATAPI CDRW INT KIT.

Later & Thanks...

I have one, and am extremely pleased with it. My only suggestion, is use something other than the bundled adaptec software. I use Nero with great results.

i 'technically' have a plexy 8432e (rebadged as a Creative 8432e). i have never had a problem with it, if there was a problem, it was my fault not the drive's fault.

*edit* Prospero and me posted at the same time. i also have always used nero with no problems. Plexy is the best!

you can get a demo of nero which is free...im not sure of the limitations on it though. i just checked at PriceWatch (http://www.pricewatch.com) and the lowest plexy 8432 is $174 + shipping.

the plexwriter is great, I got mine from onvia.com for 189.95 including shipping (RETAIL BOX) and I am very very pleased with it, I used to have Ricoh 2/2/8, and it's nothing compared to Plextro....duh

For a bit more money I'd go for the Plextor 12/10/32 because it features BURN PROOF technology that practically eliminates coasters and allows multitasking while you're burning a CD. Other brands such as creative labs, iomega, etc have also licensed the technology from Sanyo and I'm sure prices will drop soon.

I just got done reading about the Burn-proof technology that Plextor came out with...i'm thinking I better wait for the prices to come down - it sounds great!

I use a Plextor 8/4/32 IDE internal CDRW and I am very happy with it. Believe it or not, I haven't had a bad-burn yet. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

Yes, go for the 8/4/32 Plextor, it's a great burner.

I have burnt about 80 cd's and only one coaster...an old dos game cd (Shadow Warrior) I burnt a disc to disc copy of. I did an image of that one and made a good copy.
No idea why that one went bad, I have burnt many cd to cd copies at 8x, audio, data, you name it. I even get a warning not to go cd to cd for audio but they work fine.

I like the plextor software for burning MP3's to audio on the fly and I havent had a problem with the Adaptec software included, it does what I need it to do.

Bought mine at Onvia for $300 Canadian a few months ago.
