If you are already running running NT or Win2K you can go to the run dialog box then type

convert driveletter: /fs:ntfs

This will convert the drive specified to NTFS

If you have existing partitions that you need to create and format, Disk administrator will allow you format with NTFS as well.

If you are doing a clean install, the setup portion of the installation should allow you to choose what file system you want to use.

Win9x/ME will not support NTFS. I don't know about XP Home Edition.

Windows XP Home Edition will format the drive as NTFS. It gives you that option upon first install. If it is a second hard drive XP will let you choose Fat32 or NTFS when you right-click on the drive and select format. if you are running 98 or ME, you can use Partition Commander or Partition magic to do an NTFS format.

I skipped the NTFS part. i just went along with FAT32. and my HDD and everything is working just fine in Windows XP Pro. If you change it to NTFS that partition/HDD can not be used in Win98, couse you can't see it in Win98. If your using a dual boot that is.
