Sure it would. And since you have a KT266A mobo you can change the cpu to an AMD XP later, in a few months I mean.
If you look at the requirements on software, you'll notice that not too many require anything faster than a 500mhz cpu, 32mb graphics card, 128mb ram, at full requirements.
I'm still using my t-bird 750 on Abit KT7 Raid mobo.
GeForce2 MX video.
And T-bird 1G on Epox 8k7a mobo.
GeForce3 Video.

Yeah that would be an awesome system for gaming...and like Imperion1 said you can always upgrade to an XP later. What type of flat screen though? Pure flat LCD screen or CRT? You may want to check the response time on the LCD montior to see how it would do with gaming. I don't know much about them and am not sure if they can keep up with the fast frame rates of gaming or not. I could be wrong though...who knows.
If someone does know if and LCD has an affect on gaming let me know cause I am interested in finding out.
Good Luck!!

Current LCDs aren't too good graphic wise with games. I believe there dpi is .28
A flat screen monitor would be your better choice.
My Samsung SyncMaster 955DF (19 inch) is about .22 dpi. The Horizontal dpi is .20 and .24 Vertical dpi.
I have no problems with the graphics on this monitor.
753DF is the 17 inch version.
