I saw a "Frontline" documentary on data theft and trojan horses the other night and it got me pretty worried. I have a firewall ("ZoneAlarm" and it works - the same evening it blocked an intruder that I traced back to a place I used to work) also, I have just switched from McAffee to using Norton Antivirus 2002 but I still don't feel comfortable going online. I would like to have a two disk system (or something) - maybe one small disk with the minimum files needed to boot, go online and browse - the other a large disk for offline computing. I need a way to shut off or completly lock out the disk with my data on it. So that even if something gets by the firewall it could not get to my data disk. I have thought about external disks and plug in bays. Any Ideas?

You could try a router as a hardware firewall which is used everywhere for security help.

I also recommend a router with a built-in firewall. An SMC Barricade or D-Link. Also look at Jetico's Best Crypt program. You can create a large encrypted file that acts like another hard drive. When you are off-line you open the "Virtual Hard drive" with a password and it acts just like another hard drive on your system. You can move files in and out of it and also run programs from it. But when it is closed it is VERY VERY secure. This is a great program.
