Is there a way to find out the real manufacture of these generic parts?

Usually if you check all the labels on the drive or check device manager, one of these should tell you.

I know about 4 yrs ago HiVal drives were made by Sony. But not sure anymore.

I checked the drive, and no luck there. it just gives me #'s in device manager?

If it really is a sony that would be great!
