Click to See Complete Forum and Search --> : What is DDE Server?
When I'm using IE5 my system periodically slows down (cpu goes to 100% useage) and I have to reboot. When the computer tries to shutdown, I get a dialog box that says "DDE Server Window" and I have to end task before I can restart.
Does anyone have any idea what's going on?

DDE
Acronym for Dynamic Data Exchange, an interprocess communication (IPC) system built into the Macintosh, Windows, and OS/2 operating systems. DDE enables two running applications to share the same data. For example, DDE makes it possible to insert a spreadsheet chart into a document created with a word processor. Whenever the spreadsheet data changes, the chart in the document changes accordingly.
Although the DDE mechanism is still used by many applications, it is being supplanted by OLE, which provides greater control over shared data.

I have this identical problem........but I don't see anyones suggestion to remove the "DDE Server Window" box at shutdown, which will obviously restore my CPU to it's normal status. Any suggestions anyone!!!

This is happening to me also.
I just upgraded IE to version 6.0.
Now windows media player 7.0 wont play because OLEChannelWnd and DDE Server Window are hanging which causes WMP not to open.
I have to close those manually by clicking control, alt, delete & when I click on that it freezes up the computer and I have to reboot!
Any advice would be appreciated.
