HI,
I have an older set of software called Alldata. It is automotive repair books on cd. I use to have what they called a "key" that plugged into the LPT port on the computer, then you could plug your printer into the back of the key. It looked like a simple adaptor with no fancy gizmos. Some how the software looks for the key to run, and I believe this stuff was created in the late 80's so it can't be to technical. The best I can figure is the "KEY" jumpered one or more terminals for the software to look for, and since the printer is hooked up to the back of the key it must not be the pins that would interfear with the printer. If anyone could give me some insite into what this "KEY" could be doing, and how I might jump the terminals if thats the case. Thanks:
