I want to flash a new bios for my k7ama motherboard, which uses AMI bios. But when I run the utility file (aminf329.exe) in real DOS system, it says that "Chipset/Flash part isn't available. The function will be invalid". So I can not flash my BIOS. Then, I read the k7ama m/b manual about the bios protection. but do not find any thing about bios protection jumper. I chect the Advanced BIOS features, and do not see any function that I can disable the bios protection. What's wrong? Thanks in advance.

on my motherboard, an FIC AD11, my BIOS has two types of system protection. the first is an BIOS antivirus and another which is called "BIOS Guardian". both have to be disabled before i can flash my BIOS.
you did not list the manufacturer of your motherboard so i could not see if it had anything similar. you may want to give their support a call and have them walk you through it. part of the money you spent on the motherboard is for them to help you set it up.

Some motherboards (probably older ones) had a jumper on the board that had to be jumpered to take a bios upgrade. This was also a way to prevent a virus from getting to the bios.
