Bovon 12-01-2001, 02:02 AM Older IDE drives will work just fine if they are ok...just slower than the newer drives. They wont affect the mainboard or anything else that I am aware of. I have an older 500 mb drive with some stored stuff on it. I need to plug it in sometime, and just burn all that stuff (mostly JPGs, ect) to a cd disk...would be faster access if I ever need the stuff, and wouldn't have to be rumminging around looking for where I put that old hard drive when I need the data...
