I have a bit of a dilemma, I have a original p3 450@504 on a asus p2b motherboard and I want to upgrade, the board will support up to a 800 with the bios im using but I guess what i'm wondering is this, when I purchase a new geforce 3 64 mb video card and if I were to get a p3 800 and overclock it would that still be a complete dinasour of a computer because i've had nothing but good luck with that MB, however there are alot of good MB combos out there i'm just trying to save money right now. Would I really notice a huge difference between say a combo with a asus a7v-e and a athlon 1.2 ghz over my motherboard I have and a p3 800 overclocked to almost 1 ghz given the advantages of the faster cpu speed and the agp 4x and whatever else might be better. Hope I don't sound too confused but all I want to do is make a decision based on weather i'll have a huge performance difference between the two senarios. Thanks for any imput. BTW I currently have a asus p2b p3 450@504, 256 mb pc133, sb live, matrox G400 dualhead, asus 50x, cdr, win XP pro.

Read at page below that trying to use older 2X AGP card in the P4B, which uses 1.5 V AGP, will fry the board and possibly the processor. Good review of the P4B at any rate.

I can't tell you off hand without taking off the case and looking at the board but I know it has jumpers that allowed it to be set to 800 max without overclocking it. Look at your manual or on asus site to see if your's goes to 800 also. I had to get the latest bios to be able to use coppermine processors though.
