Hello-

I am wondering what in my MSconfig startup can stay and what can go. I got rid of a couple things I know are pointless, but am not sure on others. Maybe you guys can help.

I am not sure about some of the more system-sounding ones like Scanregistry and Taskmonitor. Are they needed? The NV ones I need because they are my vid card. (OC settings, DVC Settings, Icon in the tray)

What about the two LoadPowerProfiles? Are those doubles? Even needed at all?

HPScan and Stillimage are part of my scanner- I'll have to experiment with disabling those because I hardly ever use my scanner.

Thanks

Ruahrc

The ones you GOTTA have are

1. System Tray
2. Scan Registry(IMO)
3. Anti-Virus(while on-line)

Optional

1. Still Image Monitor
2. HPS Scan Monitor

These are related to the Scanner, more than likely they'll self load when you click the scanner icon.

Test it by disabling and then running the scanner.

One of the HP's , the 3200c has a thing called "power saving" that runs in the TSR box(Programs)
It cuts off the green light on the scanner when not in use for a certain period of time.

Per MS, the only things "Windows" needs to run is
1." Explorer " (which is NOT listed in the TSR box
and
2. " Systray " which IS in the box.

my experience has indicated that you can disable most of the junk in there and it'll auto-run on the click of the icon.

Taskmon is the auto-run function of
1. disk clcean-up
2. defrag
3. scandisk

Powerprofile is the "Power-Saving" found in control panel which cuts off the Monitor and HD's and puts the system on auto-stand by.
