Zoltrix Phanton modem not locking system

I have installed the Zoltrix Phantom 56k pci modem on my sisters pc and when the dial tone is heard the modem tries to dial but then the pc locks up and only reset will work then. i have tried the old and new drivers but hte same problem happens. The modem is recognised in windows and info is sent back when questioning the modem. Her system is :

AMD K6/2 350 2.2v
Lucky Star 5mvp3 Super socket 7 mobo
S3 trio 4mb AGP graphics
128mb PC100 SDRAM (branded)
Seagate 8.4gb hard disk
ALS100 ISA Sound card
8x BTC CD-ROM drive
ATX midi tower 235Watts

Using:
Windows ME
Internet explorer 5.5

i have had this modem in my machine before i got an External Diamond SupraExpress 56e pro and it worked fine. My spec:

AMD K6/2 450
Jetway J-542C Mobo
192mb PC100 SDRAM
3dfx Voodoo3 3000 AGP TV-out
Seagate Barracuda 3 ATA100 40GB Hard disk 7,200rpm
Creative PCI128 sound card
Diamond external modem
plextor 24/10/40a cd-rw
44x udma33 cd-rom
atx midi tower 300watts

Any ideas guys/gals?

Have you tried using another slot? Or try a different modem or put it back in yours to see if it still works.

Tried all the pci slots on the motherbord but the same thing happens. Not tried my external modem yet but i will. The zoltrix does work as when i put it in my machine its fine.

Could be the power supply is not up to the task try another one or reload the mobo drivers and or if possible flash the bios to an updated bios if available.
