I have just bought the Plextor 24/10/40A cd-rw and i'm having trouble reading music cd's, well specifically music cds made by REACT Music Ltd. I have 2 albums made by this company (btw these music cd's are the originals, not copies) and they are both 3cd albums, but only the first cd from each album plays? Why is this? When the other cd's are inseted the writers green light just flashes and windows says "Please insetd cd!". All other music albums seem to work with this cd-rw and it backsup/copies at 24x perfectly. I've tried removing the IDE cable and then inserting the music CD to see if it was my Mobo, windows etc... that was cousing the problem but it still won't read the cd's. The cd's are in perfect condition and i have cleaned them anyway. Is the writer faulty or is it just the cd's???
Its only 3 days old and all i want is to be able to listen to music while working on my pc!
Thanx guys/gals

You might have run into "copy protected" music CDs.
Most of these "copy protection" schemes technically are violations of the Audio-CD standard (the "Redbook" CD format), reason enough to return them to the shop and demand a refund - the box doesn't contain what was advertized. A CD either is Redbook compliant or it's not an audio CD. Period.

I have since tried a number of other original music cd and these two are now starting to fail. The cd's jump and it takes ages to skip track. Somtimes the songs just stop and the CD-RW tries to read them but nothing happens.
I think its gonna have to go back to the shop.

Took it back to the retailers and got a replacement, but when i got the replacement home and testd it, guess what? The same thing doesn't like music cd's. I'm getting a little annoyed to say the least! So i have decided to get a refund and get the TDK Cyclone 24x10x40x.
I'm really disapointed with plextor and i'm not gonna buy any other product from their range.
Does anyone have any info to why this writer is not willing to play most music cd's. Also does anyone own a TDK cyclone 24x10x40x? What are they like?
Thanx guys/gals
