Hi there,

I currently have Win98, and will be receiving Win ME within the next few days. However, I will be formatting my drives to get everything cleaned out and crisp for some new hardware as well. What I don't want to do is intall Win98, and then install Win ME. Is there a work around to this, or will I actually have to wait for WIn98, and then install Win ME Win98 Upgrade.

Thanks,

Yeah theres a way that you can install ME without installing 98 first. All you got to to is run the upgrade from DOS you stick in your boot disk and set it to boot computer with CD-ROM support dont select start setup from cd it wont work. and type in Your Cd-rom drive letter (ie.D:\setup) and away you go just keep that win98 CD handy it may ask you for the cd.

I never done this with a ME upgrade CD b4 but I did stay in at a Holiday Inn Last Night.

Velly Velly Complicated Procedure.

1. Put ME in CD-Rom

2. When prompted, put in Win98 cd as proof that you DO own a copy.

The upgrade cd has everything needed, except proof that you own a cd of 98.

Aagh, dummie me.

1st, boot to a Win98 boot disc and check "start computer with CD-ROM support"

2nd FDISK as usual

3rd format c: /s

4th type "setup"

Thanks very much! I though it would be much more complicated than that.

Take care,
