I bought a motherboard quite a while ago and received a CD with my purchase. The CD contained the drivers for my motherboard and PC-cillin from "Trend" (www.trend.com). I found out that PC-cillin was some kind of anti-virus program. But is it any good? Is Norton better? Is Mcafee better?
Thanks for the replies

An ASUS mobo, right? Its anti-virus software, and in my opinion, it's ****. It didn't detect the *254* replicants of the W95.CIH virus in my system. Fortunately, I heard about the virus and tried Norton Anti-Virus just to be sure. That got'em.
If I were you, I wouldn't bother with it. Go with norton. They have better support, a better product, and lifetime updates, unlike PC-Cillin.

I disagree with Dominus I am using trend Pc cillin v 6.0 and I find it good. It allows you to update your pattern file constantly from the internet. The oem version you have probably doesnt allow that. The Australian Defence Force has selected Trend so it cant be that bad

I have to agree with mbeaton,I had anolder version of pc-cillun which detected a virus (unknown)as it was being sent to my daughter.I had no trouble updating it over the net, so no complaints so far, did have a demo nortons which caused all kinds of trouble for me,was told later that there is a bit of a problem with nortons and w98.

Perhaps I had an older version of PC-Cillin. But I haven't had any problems with NAV5 and Win98. Works wonderfully.

PC-chillin is cool, and if you buy the right mobo, it is free!

PC-cillin 6 user here and former PC-cillin 3 user.
I used IBM antivirus and it was okay, but Symantec bought them and sent me Norton's AV 4.0 - it was the slowest scan I ever saw. I decidedly do not like Norton/Symantec anything.
