Is a UDMA100 hard disk drive backwards compatiable with a UDMA33 motherboard?

If you mean will it run at 100, then the answer is no.

It will only run as fast as your motherboard. You can get ATA100 controller cards though. Think you can get an Abit one from www.scan.co.uk (http://www.scan.co.uk) (have a look on their today only page for bargains!!)
