I have a logitech mouseman wheel for one of my systems, and the space in and around the ball are not roomy. How do I clean out the little wheels inside? They have this grime on it, which isn't the easiest to get off.

Any suggestions cleaning the inside of a mouse?

I use a Q-Tip and isopropyl alcohol. Most units have a rotating door on the bottom that lets you drop the ball out and get to the mechanics.

If everything's clean and the action remains at all rough, try a TINY drop of light oil at the tips of the roller shafts. I have used a lightly moistened sewing needle or straight pin for this. Wipe away any residue and keep it off the rollers.

Roy, I wouldn't recommend oil because it can soften plastic.

Wart, you're saying you don't have balls (mice)? http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif

I have optical mice, just not for this one computer. I can see an optical mouse in its near future tho.

I use the tip of a pen cap to clean my mouse.

Try Logitech's cordless rodent. I just bought both the cordless keyboard & mouse. Both work great. Love them!

Hahahaha Jad .. I'm glad I'm not the only one! Those Bic 'round stic' caps work great! http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif I use the straight part of the cap to chisel off the worst of the 'cheese', then if I have the time, a little bit o alcohol as mentioned above.

I'm not using a ball mouse, but actually a trackball. Same concept, just upside down, that's all.

I also have the Logitech cordless duo, and I will not give either one up. I have used both tpes, I prefer chordless to ball less

The perfect compliment to the Logitech equipment is get a 8" X 10" peice of arborite, (counter top) that has a slite texture to it and glue it down. I am presently installing one right now on my keyboard tray arrangement. Easy to clean and as close to a frictionless surface as you are going to get. Less time cleaning the mouse as well. Great for graphics!

I'm waiting to see if anyone comes up with a cordless optical mouse. Why not, the cordless mouse uses a battery. Use the battery to power the light too.

I use a pencil eraser, it gets all the gunk off!

I thought there already were cordless optical mouses (mice?). What do I know, all of my mice have, uh, balls...
