ok I keep getting the same error when ever I try to use word pad with WIN98 se .

I have tried uninstalling the program and reinstalling it several times.But it still does the same thing. It's really starting to make me mad http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/frown.gif. I have something I need to open but I can't .BTW this happens has happened to me several times the only way it was fixed b4 was when I did a fresh install of crappy WinDoze.Now I'm not going to do a reformat just to fix word pad but like I say I've tried the add/remove programs several times and still no luck.GRRRRRRRRRRRRR anyone know of another program I can use to open word pad style docs?

Have you removed it, REBOOTED, & then reinstalled it?

yes I did......also just for the heck of it...being my WinDoze was getting a little corrupted I went ahead and reinstalled windoze on top of the old...and this didn't even fix it.I'm at a total loss here it's very annoying specially being I really need to open something with it.

Use the System File Checker Utility in System Tools to find and replace any corrupt files. This should take care of it.

well mboyaj I just tried what you suggested it found 1 bad file so I replaced it..but still no luck...still don't work

After removing word pad, deleate the registry key listed in the article, reboot then re-install.

ahhh that was the problem...its fixed guess when I was adding and removing it wasnt deleting the bad regestry.....thx
