Click to See Complete Forum and Search --> : Win98 startup screen
If you don't have TweakUi installed on your computer there is another way, you have to access the "Read Only, Hidden file" msdos.sys that resides in the root directory. First go to Windows explorer, once there click on "View" goto "folder options" and click on the "View" tab, go to where is says "Hidden files and click on the "show all files" and then click on "Apply", msdos.sys will now be visible in the root directory of your C: drive, make a back up copy of this file, next right click on this file and click on "Properties" and uncheck the "Read Only" option, and click "Apply" now right click on this file (msdos.sys) and click on "Open with" and choose a text editor such as "WordPad" and under the heading "Boot Options" make the entry "Logo=0", (without the quotation marks) somewhere before the last line in this catagory, click on save, then exit.

Mntsnow is correct it is much easier to do it from the program TweakUi, but if you don't have the program installed on your computer and don't have access to the CD this is the alternative.
Thanks! I edited the msdos.sys, works great!

In the root of C: is a file 'LOGO.SYS' .
This is your startup picture. Rename it or move it or delete it. This is safer than editing msdos.sys , but use TweakU as Mntsnow sugests is realy the way to go since
TweakU is handy for other things as well.
How do you get rid of the startup screen and just display the command prompts so it will boot faster.

Nemo,
If you have TweakUi installed on your Win98 system you can turn off the "splash screen" (in the "boot tab").
Tweakui is found on your Win98 Cd under the "Tools" folder and then in the "Reskit" folder and then in the "powertoy" folder...Right click on the "Tweakui.inf" file and choose install. it will install it and you can access it from your "control panel" folder
Enjoy! I sure like it http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

ps. You can also accomplish this doing whats in the following post. But I think this is a easier and much more benifical way of doing this and many other things in a fast and easy graphical way!
