Can my mobo handle the AthlonXP?

I have an Abit KT7- E mobo i bought it cause every review i read said that although it isnt supposed to be able to handle 266 bus it can and that there is no reason to buy the KT7. any way im running an athlon 1Ghz (200Mhz) and i was wondering if my board can handle an Athlon XP. thanks

My guess would be that if the mobo has the multipliers to clock the XP at the suggested speed, then you should be okay. Just remember the model number of the XP is not the actual Ghz rating.

You might need to update your BIOS to handle the XP CPU. Check your mainboard mfg's page to see if BIOS flash is necessary.
