wave data file open error

HI I get message wave data file open error
if i click on a midi file or try to start some games. the midi player pops up (mplayer)How do i get this working again?

I had the same problem after I installed a Savage4 in my system(go to the graphics card section for the full story) and the only way I solved it is by removing any trace of the card from my system.
Life ain't fair, is it?
