After starting over from a fdisk and now copying over various backed up files (bookmarks, address files, my documents, etc.), I'm having difficulty importing or copying my Windows Address Book File (*.wab).

When I attempt to import it after opening the Address Book, I get the following error: "Address Book -- Main Identity: An error occured during the import process. The import process could not be completed."

Also, I tried copying the backed up file to the it's destination location on the hard drive, but when opening the Address Book -- it won't recognize the file as a valid *.wab file.

I also tried taking on/off the Read-only attribute..with no luck.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Brian:confused:

I would make sure your new identity is the same as your old one. Then put the file on your computer with the Read-only property off.
I had the same problem and this did the trick I believe.

I changed my computer identity to MATCH the file name of my previous address book file (Ddecker.wab). I also ensured that my file was not read-only.

Still no luck when attempting to import the file. I still receive the same error message after several reboots and attempts.

"An error occured during the import process. The import process could not be completed."

Any other ideas??

Thanks,
Brian

I assumed you were using Outlook Express. If so, this is how I got it to work:

Make sure Outlook Express is same version or higher- I went from Ver. 5 to 6
Make a folder on desktop and copy .wab file to it.
uncheck all properties of the .wab file.
In Outlook Express go to file/import/address book
find .wab file and open it.
You can do the same for your old email as well.

hope this helps
