Appreciate some assistance.

Nephew has a Creative Labs Sound Blaster CT 4810 Sound card installed on a PC running W98SE.

When the PC starts, after the Windows logo, but before the desktop comes up, a message comes up saying:

"Creative SB PCI
The SB PCI interrupt has been routed incorrectly by the system. Audio PCI inactive. Use automatic settings in Device Manager. Press any key..."

When he brings the PC to my house, it runs like a charm. When he takes it home, the message keeps coming up. All else remains the same.

Any ideas of why the interrupt is routed incorrectly by the system?

I've seen this interrupt routing happen on a system with the Creative SB and a via chipset. The via 4 in 1 upgrade fix it.

As to why it works at your home and not at his is realy weird.

muchmark,

Thank you for your reply.

Checked the mainboard in the PC, and it is a MIG-R540, with Intel chipset 430TX (82439TX and 82371AB).

We are still scratching our heads!

Try this,
Go to device manager, creative miscellaneaous device, creative sb16 emulator, settings, click on Allow LPT Interrupt Sharing.

See if this works for him.
