I am customizing a system from Gateway. I included the Geforce 3 card. Will older games, say from Unreal forward, have problems with the new card? The CPU is Pent4, 2ghz. I hope my kids will leave me alone about having a slow, outdated old system [Pent3,500mhz] Thanks!:)

Whichever the case, you will have all those patches that will make those games work again. I'd say you're pretty safe on this.

I can't help you with the kids, but Unreal is excellent with the G3. Turn on the shiny surface feature in the game for Directx and watch the opening screen sequence. It's awesome.

"Turn on the shiny surface feature for DirectX". I assume this "shiny surface feature" is somewhere within the game set up menu? None the less, happy to know Unreal will still function [lest I be banished to the outer realms of society by my loving kids] Thank you sir!:)

Dont you type preferences in the console or something which bring up advanced game settings - inclusing "the shiny surface" thingamabob, i cant really remember cos i cant get the "preferences" display up on my GF2MX400, it crashes UT for some reason - used to work on the Voodoo 3 thopugh --- hmmmmnnn:confused:

I had Unreal working until I did a rebuild and now it crashes when I start it up. I'll have to figure that one our later.

Anyway, you can select the advanced options under the options selection. This will show a pop-up with a lot of options to tweak. In the "rendering" section, under Directx, there are options for controlling the visual quality.
