ive had trouble with my cdrom installation under dos on an AOPEN ap5vm AT motherboard, at post the auto detection displays "atapi incompatible press F1 to conti..." when searching for secondary ide controller which i have 2 cdroms connected, one on mas. and one on sla. i know that this means that there is maybe a loose cable or is a connection oriented problem but this is not the case and i have changed the data cables various times for each, made sure the jumpers are set correctly on each drive but it still wont recognize. My bios lets me select auto detec or CDROM type in cmos setup yet this error is diplayed on each configuration. what else could this be; the cdroms are different brands, one aopen(came with machine) and a mutsumi drive. (note: this machine doesnt have windows installed yet due to my cdrom problem) do drivers have to be installed for them to ATAPI compatible? what else should i try?
