If SCSI: Beware of the Yamaha 2200S, that's actually an IDE device with a rather pathetic IDE-to-SCSI adapter. Sucks. Better get the 2100S, this still is true SCSI. (The IDE model 2200E however is actually pretty good.) regards, Peter skrwdrvr 11-21-2001, 09:49 PM Alright thanks for your help wing7788 11-22-2001, 07:01 AM Sony, because it has a faster burning specs. skrwdrvr 11-22-2001, 12:08 PM True it does have faster burning specs....however...i read that the software that comes with it. SUCKS......and suppsosidly it doesn't recognize Easy Cd Creator software. joeboxer136 11-22-2001, 12:56 PM just buy a **** TDK and save yourself some money and get the best burner out there skrwdrvr 11-22-2001, 12:59 PM what's a TDK?? ReefDogg 11-22-2001, 01:34 PM I'd go with the Sony, not with the Yamaha. I've seen too many people have problems with the Yamaha burners. Or TDK or Plextor, just the get best you can buy with your money. Don't scrimp, or you'll regret it later. skrwdrvr 11-22-2001, 05:15 PM How much does a TDK burner go for?? Say a 20x?? slacker85 11-22-2001, 08:03 PM I don't think TDK makes 20x's. I could only find 16x/10x/40x and 24x/10x/40x burners on pricewatch.com (http://www.pricewatch.com). The 16x/10x/40x goes for about $145. The 24x/10x/40x goes for about the same price, so I'd grab the latter. Check out pricewatch for latest and best prices. Hope this helps :) skrwdrvr 11-22-2001, 08:06 PM What type of software comes with it? Is it any good? can Roxio Easy Cd Creator work with it? slacker85 11-22-2001, 08:15 PM Designed as an all-in-one solution for CD music and multimedia recording, the new 24/10/40 veloCD burner comes complete with TDK's own CD Blender Software Suite, as well as Nero 5.5 multimedia recording software and InCD packet writing software. ^^from tdk.com (http://www.tdk.com/velocd-new/24index.html) IMO, Nero is the best burning software out there. Dunno if the burner is compatible w/ Roxio tho... skrwdrvr 11-22-2001, 10:10 PM alright thanx for the info. keep it real joeboxer136 11-24-2001, 01:19 PM also, i was thinking about buying ex cd creator 5 but nero 5.5 really surprised me. it was pretty easy to use, and even though i had been using easy cd creator 3.5 for 2 years, nero really had alot to offer. also, go for the 24x, its only a little more then the 16x and will last longer in todays market. steve2 11-24-2001, 11:28 PM funny how different peoples perspectives are sooo different. I bought the cheapest CDRW I could I got a 20x10x40 Acer, and Nero software free, with a W & RW disk free. I tried Nero 5 that came with the drive and after a couple of burns it wouldnt work any more, wierd huh, anway I got a copy of easyCD creator 4 and downloaded the 4.05 upgrade patch and it works fine , (well sort of) it will only burn at 4-6x on the fly , but it burns very reliable and about 16x from disk, I'm very pleased with it. burns a whole cd in about 6 mins, i dunno if that is quick or not this being the first cdrw i have had but i like it. I was told by a friend not to get easyCD5 for some reason or other I cant remember, but i stuck to 4.05 & it paid off. steve2 SysOpt.com
