Ive got 2 NICs in my comp. One for Cable modem and one for LAN. Ever since I installed 2nd NIC,for LAN,my connection to internet lags like hell. Is there anything that I need to disable on 2nd NIC?

Hi,

This could be a problem if you are running Win98. What is happening is that the NIC that is connected via Cable is being assigned its IP info via the ISP and every request to the internet is being sent to it. Now that a second NIC has been added, it probably has it's own IP information that you assigned so now your computer is more than likely trying to send internet browsing requests to both NICs resulting in the hanging you are experiencing. If you disable the second NIC, I imagine the internet browsing goes back to normal.

Here is the MS solution (http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q262/3/97.ASP?LN=EN-US&SD=gn&FR=0&qry=multihomed&rnk=5&src=DHCS_MSPSS_gn_SRCH&SPR=W98) . What a PITA...

Thanks for the response gsd but I am running me. And yes the hanging does go away when I disable 2nd NIC.

I say ditch the 2nd nic and get yourself a 10/100 switch or router...thats just my opinion.

Hey try This

I Dont know if it will work so make a restore point on all comps!!!!!:D

Remove TCP/IP from nic 2 and install netbeui for all sharing.

Then install Netbeui on the other comps also.:)

Like i said dont no if this will work but it should and if you do buy make sure you buy a route not just a hub/switch
