Web Designers, Enthusiasts and Internet Consultants, I need your opinions and suggestions!

I found an independent web designer/contractor and Through friendly conversation I found out that he creates web sites for people and charges them money (hmmm, is that a capitalism idea? LoL).

For long, I wanted to have my own e-commerce web site but did not know much about how to run one, although I can put together a web site myself, I do not know anything about it in a complicated manner as I am having him do it for me.

My e-commerce web site will be divided into three parts:

1- computer parts: Sell video cards, ram, cpu, etc etc.
2- computer repair: Send a qualified tech to your house/business to troubleshoot or repair your computer.
3- internet development: hire an independent contractor through me to develop your web site.

The proposal below was written by my soon to be contractor, I need opinions, suggestions, feedback.. wether it be good or bad and it will be your decisions...KK that decides if I go for this or not.

PS: Price has not been negotiated yet.

Services to be rendered:

• Complete design of one website including the following:
o Complete design of site: layout, logo, and graphics.
o Three main sections of site:

-Custom built computers – using online forms, users will be able to customize there computer and get a dynamic quote as they modify their computer accordingly. Ability to purchase there computer online using the PayPal gateway.

-Computer repairs – users of site can browse available contractors by location and make an appointment to have there computer repaired.

-Internet development – link to names of developers based upon certain specifications.

• Site submission to major search engines.
• Information on how to legally resell products in New York State, and the best companies to use to as wholesale providers for computer parts to build computers.

Price:
• $450 - one time fee. Price includes all items mentioned above, and any other minor
changes that you might like from the above plan.
• Price does not include fee for domain name registration and web hosting. Although we will
recommend services which cost $8.95 (or less) per year for domain name registration and $9.95 per month for web hosting.
• Price does not include regular maintenance, after the site has been fine tuned and is in proper working condition.
Important notes:
• Since my site will be exactly the same for the custom built computer portion of your page
(or at least I expect it to be as of now), I would be happy to update the forms on your site as I update mine (when new technology comes out).
• Site will be built utilizing SSI, so you can edit a majority of your material through an online text editor. This might be especially helpful to you being that you know some HTML.
• Basic site can be up and running in one week or less.

How is this accomplished? client or server side? How does one update prices or equipment lists? What DB? JSP? ASP? Java? Script?

Computer repairs – users of site can browse available contractors by location and make an appointment to have there computer repaired.

Really? Do the contractors support this?
are you scheduling me?

Again, how is this accomplished?

Internet development – link to names of developers based upon certain specifications.

Where does these lists and specs come from and who maintains? Again, how is this accomplished?

This could be a major expense. The more bandwidth and functionality (DB/app) you need need/use the more you will pay. $9.95/month sounds light.

There sounds to me to be a lot of 'application/DB' functionality described, yet no manner of implementing this functionality.

BTW, SSI will not accomplish this in any manner I see.
