I am new to pc technology, so please be patient with my ignorance. I have a two year old Gateway Pent3-500mhz, 256mb ram,Windows98sec.ed,20ghd, Voodoo3,3000. Question:#1- How do I identify my current video card inregards to being an AGP or a PCI? [i dont know what these represent] #2-I believe my video card is outdated and would like to upgrade to a Geforce2-HOW do I select a replacement as there are numerous Geforce2 cards with confusing part #'s.
#3-Is installing a new card something I can do without too much pain or should I have it installed proffessionally?
Thank you for the consideration.

You might want to read this: - What is the difference between the AGP and the PCI video card? (http://www.arkiklub.com/ShowDocument.asp?DocumentId=56)

You have to ask yourself what you are using your card for,
1- surfing, typing and DVD movies? Voodoo 3 is fine
2.-Playing older games as well as a few new games? Voodoo 3 is fine, the 500mhz processor will be hurting on newer games
I would not bother getting a GF-2 unless its an Ultra or a high end GF-2 or you may not be happy with the performance difference if you pick up a MX-200 or MX-400 [low end]
My kids 566@850 Celeron Voodoo3-2000 keeps up to my Duron 800 GForce DDR [= to GF-2 MX400] in all the latest games:)

BTW you can install a new card in about 5 minutes
Tools required = 1 Philips screwdriver + cd driver disk :D
