Someone told me that playing a burned cd-r (music obviously)in a car cd player will eventually ruin the laser. I believe he said "knock the beam off angle".Does anyone know for a fact that a cd-r can ruin the car stereo (or any cd player)?

CD-R IS ALL I USE!
=================
For 3 years I have used nothing but CD-R in the stereo. I have never heard of a problem like this but if it happened to one, it could happen to all. I would recommend the MAKE SURE that the copying process went without a hitch, and then make sure he CD-R is compatable with the requirements of the sereo your playing it on. PREPERATION FOR THE WORST is the motto of many users this day, hey, it couldn't hurt.
Best of luck,

Oh boy, I know the type.
Maybe you could ask him, just exactly how any disc could permanently effect the mechanics of the laser? The disc never actually comes in contact with the mechanism that produces the laser. And if he thinks the player can be affected somehow by just shinning a beam of light on a passive object, well, then he must know things about physics that the world's greatest scientist don't even know.

Those are just rumors that are probably started by recordcompanies.Just like the rumor that a modchip in a Playstation would kill the Playstation or/and the TV.That rumor is probably started by Sony or the gameproducers to scare people off,so they won't let someone modify it (or modify it themselves).

Woah Now Stop Hold It, the damaged caused by CD-R's as I've been told is not from the CD-R disc itself.
But from the stick on label, in high temperatures the adhesive turns loose and the cute little label knocks the laser mechanism off alignment.
So I've been told by a fairly reliable source anyway..

Caddmann, you must be from the South.
In certain parts of the country, a Hoe-Down means a street walker has been shot.
Here, a Hoe-Down is a after hours gathering when we've finished hoeing the cotton fields.

You may like this guy then. www.genetravis.com (http://www.genetravis.com)
LMK what you think of his music. I don't care for country music but he sounds like he can play it. Kind of reminds me of the stuff pops listens to.
I work with him so I am going to rip his cd and upload it somewhere for him.
