I have a Voodo 2, 12mb, 3dfx card which accelerates my on board 4mb video card. As you know, windows only uses your stand alone card for watching movies and 4 meg doesn't really do much for me while I'm watching cars racing each other, If you know what I mean.
Does anyone know of an add on to windows media player that lets you use a voodo 2 card to watch movies? If not, does anyone know of another program designed to use the voodo 2 for mlaying movies?

V2 is designed to do 3D, and 3D only, with your main card disabled meanwhile. If the V2 was capable of doing 2D, DVD play, etc... it wouldn't have been sold as an add-on card.

Voodoo2 is only a 3d fullscreen card. Buy either a Voodoo Banshee or Voodoo3 onwards if you want to do media player jobs.

A couple of years ago, there was a beta program that could do this. I remember downloading it from the now defunct 3dfiles.com (called 3dfxmania.com back then). It was offered as a beta-test by a company that was planning on making it a commercial product, but it was buggy as hell and hardly generated any interest at all. I think the company eventually scraped the idea. I don't remember exactly how it worked, but I do remember the quality was horrendous (green/purple tint), unstable, and didn't always work. You might want to check all the 3dfx specific forums and see if anyone remembers what this program was called and where they might find it.

Voodoo Movie (http://vdmovie.operation3d.com). Works great for me (Voodoo2 on T-Bird 1GHz).
