Can anyone suggest a decent company to register a domain name with. I have never done it and know very little about it. I would like url forwarding to a tripod account for the time being until I get a real site. I want to stay clear of the free domain name sites sites.

Network solutions is where I signed up for mine. You can search for names that you want and see if they are available. http://www.networksolutions.com/

Cheapest place..around $10 for a .com to start..more if you need to park it and use their dns servers..

Don't pay the rediculous NetSol prices.
