I am working on a DVD in an e-machine. It is slow (I'm sure that the 120 watt power supply is the problem, which has been replaced) but it will read AOL, MSN, ME, Jewel CD, however, it will not read CDRs and some other disks, including some applications. What could be the problem?

Not all DVDs will read burned CDs some older ones won't.
I had a Toshiba DVD that won't read copy CDs. One of the things you can do is to get the model number and search for a BIOS update.
